Who Can Run an NMC?

Anyone. All you need is a room, a data projector, a PA and a DVD player. the sort of thing you can find in libraries, bars and theatres all over the world. Find a place that will let you hold a night. Email us at newmodelcinema@hotmail.co.uk and we will make you an affiliate. We sort out the films and get them to you, all you need to do is put up some posters and get as many people in there as possible.

We want this to be world wide so anyone can apply. We'll look after you. Too many amazing features are being kept out of the cinemas and cinemas are full of some awful films. We will be showing great films that you can't see anywhere else...

How do you get your film to us?

Simple. Click on the withoutabox link below or email newmodelcinema@hotmail.co.uk. All things are considered as long as they fit our brief of challenging personal work. We're more likely to accept a home made, cameraphone shot documentary on a family break down that a seen it all before horror movie.

Get in touch. Spread the word.

What is this?

New Model Cinema (NMC) is a voluntary grassroots organisation. Its credo is that films can be made cheaply, quickly and innovatively, with content that is not jeopardised by aesthetics. It aspires to create a new model for cinema – a network of freethinking, articulate story telling on screen, a refuge for the marginalised in modern cinema.

New Model Cinema is not:
- a ‘film society’ that plays ‘specialist cinema’, but a cinema system that shows ‘not-for-profit’ features, stories that just need to be told.
- an art-house/ short film-cum-music-later networking night, but a cinema system that provides a platform for the lo-def, video-makers with an interesting vision.
